A Brief Excursion into the Mechanism of a Cat’s Fall

Achtung! Achtung! Vorsicht! Fall. The desire to wake up is great, but what if we feel even worse afterwards? Or better. Let’s imagine a dream: a fall through the abyss, no solid ground at the bottom, and a tightening feeling inside us. We feel sick because no one can guarantee a soft landing. Will we manage to twist around in time and land on all fours? And if not, will our broken leg heal as quickly as our mind? And if not, will anyone take it into account? And if not, what impact will it have on society?

Pravdomil Vincent. “President of Theatres.” A figure who materialized on the podium by the entrance to JAMU like an echo of everything that suffocates art.

With JAMU Students about Animal Farm: Orwell Performed by The K-Arts Ensemble

Animal Farm is a timeless piece that allegorically captures the harsh reality of communism and totalitarian regimes. Even though the adaptation by the Korea National University of Arts of the play seemed cute and almost comical at first glance, we must not forget the true nature of this classic. That is exactly why, together with several students of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, we discussed how this topic affects us today.

Krátký exkurz do mechanismu kočičího pádu

Achtung! Achtung! Vorsicht! Fall. Touha probudit se je velká, ale co když nám pak bude ještě hůř? Nebo líp. Představme si sen: pád hlubinou, na dně žádná pevná zem a uvnitř nás sevření. Je nám zle, protože měkký dopad nám nikdo nezaručí. Stačíme se včas přetočit a přistát na všech čtyřech? A když ne, zahojí se naše zlomená noha stejně rychle jako naše mysl? A když ne, bude to brát někdo v potaz? A když ne, jaký dopad to bude mít na společnost?

Se studentkami JAMU o Animal Farm: Orwell v podání studentů K-Arts

Farma zvířat je nadčasové dílo, které alegoricky zachycuje tvrdou realitu komunismu a totalitních režimů. Přestože zpracování hry Korejskou národní univerzitou umění (K-Arts) působilo na první pohled roztomile až komicky, nesmíme zapomínat na opravdovou povahu této klasiky. Právě proto jsme se ptaly několika studentek Janáčkovy akademie múzických umění, jak se nás tato tematika dotýká dnes.

Jak se z repliky zrodí postava?

Konverzace je jako tenis, divadlo je pak spíše něco jako exhibice – už dopředu víme, kam náš spoluhráč bude hrát a jak míček odrazíme zpátky. Jak tedy přesvědčíme publikum o tom, že budoucnost neznáme a tenisový zápas se mezi námi skutečně odehrává? S Johnem Freemanem jsme v rámci jeho workshopu Open scenes prošli několik základních cvičení, abychom se tomu alespoň trochu přiblížili.
