After the performance of WHODUNIT at Studio Marta, we met with Ivana Kalová. A graduate of the Department of Nonverbal Theatre at HAMU, she stands behind the project as both author and performer. We spoke briefly about its creation and development.
The first performance of the penultimate festival day had, as its themes, lies, stylization, and strong energy. The Theatre Husa na provázkuhosted students from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), who presented their own interpretation of Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People. In their hands, the classic text gains a fresh and contemporary dimension.
At Studio Marta, as part of the SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER 2026 International Festival of Theatre Schools, the (originally graduation) performance WHODUNIT by the Department of Nonverbal Theatre at Prague’s HAMU took place. The author and performer is Ivana Kalová, accompanied on stage by a trio of musicians. Another essential component of the performance was the very natural and humorous interaction with the audience.
The Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin) invites the audience waiting in the foyer of the basement stage at Divadlo Husa na provázku into the intimate space of its production, Co-radical Togetherness.
This production by the Latvian Academy of Culture offers the festival a distinctive take on the poetics of commedia dell’arte, where traditional character types, masks, and physical acting meet ironic distance and contemporary elements. This grotesque family story, oscillating between comedy and tragedy, demonstrates how a historical form can be approached freely without striving for reconstruction, but with respect for its core principles.
What you see when you watch The Dreamers
Na Mezinárodním festivalu divadelních škol SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER 2026 měli návštěvníci možnost zhlédnout i tvorbu studentů audiovizuální tvorby. Prvním z řady uvedených filmů byla Irenka – téměř pětiminutový fotofilm o autorčině prababičce. V krátkých epizodách se film vrací k osudu jejího tatínka bojujícího v první světové válce, k jejímu vlastnímu životu za protektorátu i v letech následujících, k reflexi a obavám z budoucího světa. Fotografie zachycují malý, pečlivě uklizený byteček a v něm pečlivě rozřazenou knihovnu, starožitné sklo i křížovky, její velkou vášeň. Ke zprostředkování rozhovorů slouží tablet, který funguje jako prostředník mezi autorkou a prababičkou, jež už špatně slyší.
