The Axis Around Which Two Human Destinies Circle

The production Hello, Out There! by the Latvian ensemble from the Latvian Academy of Culture is faithful, authentic, and fair to its name. A veiled, sometimes dreamlike atmosphere in an empty space. Disorientation between freedom and confinement –– physical and psychological. A call into the void, with the hope that a response will return in the form of another's voice rather than one's own. And to top it off, two evocative performances by the actors, excelling in well-handled, pithy, and at times absurd dialogue and gymnastic stunts on the tightrope.

Os, okolo ktorej krúžia dva ľudské osudy

Inscenácia Hello, Out There! lotyšského súboru z Latvian Academy of Culture je verná, autentická a spravodlivá voči svojmu názvu. Zastretá, miestami snová atmosféra v prázdnom priestore. Dezorientácia medzi slobodou a väzením – fyzickým a psychickým. Volanie do prázdna, s nádejou, že sa vráti odozva vo forme iného, a nie vlastného hlasu. A do toho dva sugestívne herecké výkony vynímajúce sa v dobre zvládnutých úsečných, miestami absurdných dialógoch a gymnastických kúskoch na lane.

Love can be found even in the most remote parts of the world, where the mere presence of the other lights up the hope of a better end in the individual, sometimes even through manipulation. And hand on heart, in moments of the cruellest pain, one is willing to do anything for even the slightest relief, especially for someone else with whom to share one's pain in the fog of injustice.

Nádej, ahoj z druhej strany

Lásku môžeme nájsť aj na tých najodľahlejších koncoch sveta, kde len prítomnosť toho druhého rozsvecuje v jedincovi i naskrze manipuláciou nádej na možný, lepší koniec. A ruku na srdce, v momentoch najukrutnejšej bolesti je človek ochotný urobiť čokoľvek pre čo i len najdrobnejšiu úľavu, nieto pre niekoho druhého v hmle nespravedlnosti, s kým môže zdieľať svoju bolesť.

“Benzin” is a fusion of five short stories based on folk tales of the Brothers Grimm. The entire narrative unfolds in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, where a new civilization of people shares stories. Undoubtedly, a major theme is gasoline and its price. As the main tool, eight students from Kyiv University used theatrical masks and their bodies.

Za kanystr 25 eur

Inscenace Benzin je propojení pěti krátkých příběhů s motivy lidových pohádek od bratří Grimmů. Celé dění se odehrává v postapokalyptickém duchu, kdy si nová civilizace lidí vypráví příběhy. Velkým tématem je nepochybně benzín a jeho cena. Jako hlavní prostředek používalo osm studentů Kyjevské univerzity divadelní masky a své tělo.

MgA. Petr Michálek is the current rector of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts and also a dramaturge, actor, and translator. For over ten years he held the position of director of the Zlín Municipal Theatre.
